ECO DESIGN

Seminar & Research

Since the industrial revolution, we have always prioritized economic development over the environment but due of our actions the environment is now in harm, this could not only harm economic development but also threaten human lives from the effects.

Every product we produce, is sure to end up in landfills or in our trash bin never to be used again polluting the earth. To combat this, concepts such as the Cradle to Cradle concept are created to give products a new life, one with an ability to be reused many times. In hopes of creating an eco-friendly supply chain where either the concept of waste is eliminated or renewable energy is uses. Nevertheless, to celebrate diversity. By looking at nature itself for inspiration where ingenious ideas have be formed we can learn from them and apply. For example, BioMarble by Hannah Elisabeth Jones. Waste paper has now become raw material for her to produce tiles called ethos ties. Water paper is a renewable source nowadays with the huge amount used everyday. As the result of this design, awareness is brought about for the immense amount of paper being wasted and shows that we can come up with ideas on how to come up with eco-designs.

The ever-increasing rate of consumption since the industrial revolution, the 3Rs (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle) is no longer effective. We are causing harm to the environment at such an alarming rate that we must take action to change our current system into something more.
